2021 - HB 55 - Motor Voter Act

HB 55 would allow eligible Idahoans to register to vote at the same time they apply for or renew their state driver’s license. The ACLU of Idaho supports efforts to remove barriers for voter registration. By registering through a routine and necessary transaction such as renewing a driver’s license, voters will not have to worry about registration deadlines or application submissions. This, in turn, may increase voter engagement and turnout. At the ACLU of Idaho, we support HB 55 and corresponding efforts to close the participation gap of eligible voters in Idaho.
