The ACLU
of Idaho successfully intervened when the Idaho Chapter of NORML
(National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) was denied
permission for an educational display in the Idaho Capital Rotunda
due to the subject of the display. Our demand letter to legislative
leadership that cited caselaw on viewpoint discrimination resulted
in NORML being granted permission to display its message in the
rotunda. On January 17, 2005, NORML’s display at the rotunda was
held, attracting TV, radio, and print media coverage. Boise
attorney Maria Andrade served as ACLU of Idaho cooperating counsel.
